The protective effect of organic inhibitors depends on their concentration, temperature, and the nature of the compounds.

Most often, organic inhibitors include oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur. They are adsorbed exclusively on the metal surface. Organic inhibitors include some volatiles, amines, organic acids and their salts.
