THE CUMULATIVE AGE GRADIENT OF LYMPHOID INVOLUTION UNDER DUAL ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE AND THE LIMITS OF PHYTOTHERAPEUTIC REPAIR
Abstract
Ageing is accompanied by a natural involution of lymphoid tissue, and environmental insults may act on this shifting background rather than on a static one. Distinguishing the physiological age gradient from the additional burden imposed by chronic exposure is therefore essential for correctly interpreting experimental morphometry and for judging the true efficacy of any corrective intervention. This thesis addresses the cumulative, age-aggravated nature of lymph-node remodelling under combined PM2.5 and tobacco-smoke exposure and the age-dependent ceiling of phytotherapeutic repair.
