Abstract

Post-stroke parkinsonism (PSP) develops as a result of vascular damage to subcortical structures (basal ganglia, thalamus, frontal-subcortical connections) and is often accompanied by cognitive impairment, which worsens the prognosis and quality of life of patients. Unlike Parkinson's disease, the cognitive profile in PSP is predominantly vascular in nature.
